To kick off September we are throwing our second and last jazz night of the summer.

One of the UKs leading jazz trumpet players, Steve Fishwick has played and recorded on both sides of the Atlantic as well as further afield in places as far flung as Shanghai and Peru.  He has 10 recordings released under his own name, and has performed and recorded with many legendary jazz musicians from Europe and America.  He is also a busy educator, teaching at five of the leading conservatoires in the UK: Royal Academy of Music, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Trinity Laban, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, and Leeds Conservatoire.  Tonight he will lead his quintet of equally accomplished musicians through a concert of Miles Davis material, spanning the great trumpeters most famous recordings including his work with Charlie Parker, classic recordings such as Kind of Blue and The Birth of the Cool, and beyond!

Chef George Williams: The Summer Feast

Chef George Williams: The Summer Feast

📸Anton Rodriguez

George has kindly agreed to come to The Barn and put on a two night event where he and his extremely talented team will put on a weekend to remember.

George learnt his trade at the famous Ballymaloe cookery school in Ireland before working at Michelin starred restaurant, The River Café in London

George came on our radar during lockdown as he started a food delivery business called Fed by George. The idea was simple but brilliant; George and his housemates would tirelessly make all sorts of delicious food and deliver them to NHS workers. The initiative gained a massive following and he later went on to do a Christmas supper club in memory of this time which was a roaring success. We can’t wait to see what he gets up to down here in Kent

For this double header the focus will be on food in the heart of Summer - the veg gardens of Falconhurst will be bursting with life and his menu will feature a lot of what we grow here on site

On the Friday, guests will arrive at 7pm for a garden cocktail and then we will sit down for a 5 course meal from 7.45pm with the evening wrapping up around 10.30pm

On the Saturday, guests will arrive at 4pm with the evening finishing up around 8pm

Massaya Wine and Food with Sami Ghosn

The second event in our series of Wine Tastings for the Summer

We are moving a little away from our ‘Tour of France’ events and are this time taking a trip to Lebanon

Sami Ghosn, founder of Massaya, is a wine producer of significant stock and we are extremely lucky to have him coming to The Barn to introduce us to the five wines that he produces at Massaya vineyards along with a drink called Arak (all will be revealed at the event!)

The story of these wines and how they have come to being is fascinating as it is not just the history of the grapes that contributes to the tale. Politics is a divisive topic that constantly hangs over this part of the world and during this event we will learn about how this vineyard has been able to thrive in the face of adversity

Have a read here to learn more about the wines we will be tasting and about their producers

There will be a three course meal to accompany the evening; the menu will be designed to pay homage to Lebanese cuisine whilst making it geographically relevant with a British influence

SOLD OUT - WE HAVE TWO OTHER WINE TASTINGS ON 16th JUNE & 22nd SEPTEMBER
